- David Knight is the current Mayor of the Town of Chapin and he currently operates a law practice in the heart of Chapin. He has a long history of working for the Town of Chapin. He was appointed as Chapin’s Town Attorney on July 7, 1987, and spent decades handling utility contracts with developers, working with annexation proceedings, drafting ordinances, and much more.
Mayor Knight married Holly Martin Keeton in June 1983. They moved to Chapin in April 1986 with her children, Joe and Janis, and joined Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council during the construction of the new education wing.

He was one of the founding members of the Chapin Kiwanis Club in 1988 – and later assisted in the merger of the Kiwanis Club into the Chapin Merchants Association to form the Greater Chapin Chamber of Commerce in 1991. He served on the Chamber’s first Board of Directors, and chaired the Labor Day Festival Car Show from 1991-94. He chaired the Adopt-a-Highway program through the Chamber for Highway 48 (Columbia Avenue) for more than 20 years. In 2010, the Chamber honored him with its “Lifetime Achievement Award” and in 2012, he was inducted into the Town of Chapin’s Hall of Fame.
